Detroit: Hummer HX

by Hummer on June 14, 2011

Deafening silence. Microsoft Works. Compact Hummer. All oxymorons, yet making its debut in Detroit is the Hummer HX Concept, an off-road vehicle smaller than the H3, and designed to go head-to-head with the likes of the Jeep Wrangler.

@leafsaregod the first FJ cruiser appeared in the 60s i think and then they stopped production for awhile and reintroduced it

iawalker July 14, 2010 at 4:28 pm

@leafsaregod
The Toyota FJ has been around for almost a half century, Hummer… not so much

Hummers222 July 14, 2010 at 5:22 pm

thats really nice. im sad that gmc ended hummer, though

PauliusBa July 14, 2010 at 5:23 pm

whole move and they have not shown the back of it. probably they wanted to hide the ugly archaic rear live axle suspension.

elpadroney July 14, 2010 at 5:29 pm

u need that thing 2 get thru detroit

rangergrad July 14, 2010 at 6:11 pm

Looks like a Halo Warthog

phrawgg2 July 14, 2010 at 6:40 pm

I was thinking the same thing. That and the real steel Panhard VBL french scout car. I say just get the fastlane brand Hummer HX body shell and put it on a Tamiya CC01 rc 4wd chassis and tool around in your back yard. The real one of these, if it were made, would probably suck as much as a jeep.

JonGarrett2008 July 14, 2010 at 7:05 pm

yeah, I heard about that too. its too bad cause the concept hummer is really nice.

bigtcunningham July 14, 2010 at 8:02 pm

@JonGarrett2008 deal fell through no more hummers will be made

dhs012 July 14, 2010 at 8:19 pm

are they ever gonna put this into production?

JonGarrett2008 July 14, 2010 at 9:09 pm

lol, thats so true. its amazing that I live in NYC and I see hummers avoiding potholes and speed bumbs !

jadissx July 14, 2010 at 9:54 pm

yes because the Chinese would be driving them off the road {jk}

JonGarrett2008 July 14, 2010 at 10:24 pm

a Chinese company now owns Hummer so we may never see this thing on the road.

Mcloven85 July 14, 2010 at 10:41 pm

it just me or it some what remind u of the halo warthog…..i hope they use thim in the us millitary would be cool like a warthog

andrewloyd67 July 14, 2010 at 10:47 pm

Love it
Just wish it was a little less PDiddy on the dash. Larger GPS computer screen with integrated in the centre dash mount.
Something that can be easily cleaned of sand and rubbish by ripping the seats out etc.
Maybe 2 types, one for urban pimps and one for someone more likely to use it offroad.
Even the SAS could handle that Halo vehicle.

You’re right – that Ford Raptor is gorgeous BUT they are still using that old 5.4 Triton. I’d like a truck that doesn’t kill me on gas consumption when I’m commuting to work. The Dodge has the cylinder shut down on the newer half tons… but it’s a dodge (I own a 2003 RAM 1500 – never again will I touch a Dodge product… sorry Jeep)

thechevyman999 July 15, 2010 at 12:16 am

i would love this truck in my driveway

Caleb0014 July 15, 2010 at 12:47 am

Of SUV’s i like Jeep’s the only hummers i like are the HUMVEES and this one, nut jeep is facing some fierce scompetition

ramirog05 July 15, 2010 at 12:53 am

I stopped watching this video as soon as they mention v6. Nice concept step it up with the performance ! come on now!! people want to tow boats and have fun with a vehicle like this! I honestly have to say ford is the only company still working for the people by creating vehicles that people actually want! Ford f150 Raptor will tear this shit up!! Ohh and ford is the only american company that is not owned by the government! That says it all!!

wun1gee July 15, 2010 at 1:40 am

ichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery doesn’t even own Hummer yet, and isn’t expected to own Hummer–if the deal goes thru at all–until late December. They’re still in negotiations.

And it’s not Chinese..It was designed by Americans, and will be built in the US by Americans. The parent company doesn’t mean shit.

I mean, Hell. Jeep is owned by Fiat…

spartankiller369 July 15, 2010 at 2:32 am

hey dude, they have somthing better than that. look up a jeep hurricane

dnohl75 July 15, 2010 at 2:34 am

i am a jeep lover and i hate h2′s and h3′s but this is sick! I would get one of these over a jeep and it looks about the same size as a jeep wrangler, but with 35″ wheels. But I like the feeling of a manual.

thechevyman999 July 15, 2010 at 2:38 am

they should make it longer so it looks like a humvee

HockeySeanX July 15, 2010 at 3:30 am

when is this available to buy in canada?

Ebook94 July 15, 2010 at 3:55 am

You look faggety. And I wonder if this would be hard to see out of for a shorter person to drive.?
