The Hummer H2 is both a SUV (sports utility vehicle) and later an SUT (sports utility truck) sold by General Motors under the Hummer brand in the USA from 2002-2009 and in Russia from 2004-2009. The Hummer H2 was also available elsewhere in the world in limited capacity.

The driving force behind the Hummer H2 was GM's goal to make a vehicle that had the allure of but was more practical than the Hummer H1, which Hummer had designed for military use. Thanks in part to video footage of Desert Storm operations, the H1 had become a focal aspect of pop culture at the time.

Hummer turned that attention into marketing, and while it did establish the brand name, the fact remained that the H1 was not accessible to the average person. The H2 was the attempt to make it so, and cash in on the cachet that they had built. In the end, GM was able to take what could have been a momentary popularity and channel it into an 8-year period where a Hummer H2 for sale was a hot item.

Nevertheless, a changing economy and changing social perception made the H2 as impractical as the H1 had been. The 2009 model year H2 was the final one manufactured as GM made way for new Hummer options that better fit the needs of the modern consumer.

The final Hummer H2 for sale in the 2009 model year boasts a 6.2-liter V8 that hammers out a chest-thumping 393 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control passes power to the wheels. Off the pavement, the H2 conquers all in its path with a dual-range transfer case, a driver-selectable differential locker, and an electronically controlled throttle that GM calibrates for the low range. Towing capacity of this beast maxes out at 8,200 pounds.

The standard equipment package for the Hummer H2 for sale in 2009 included 17-inch alloy wheels, remote engine start, leather seating, power front seating with driver memory, heated front and second-row seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, auxiliary rear climate control, Bluetooth, and OnStar. The H2 also boasts a deluxe 8-speaker Bose audio system that includes an in-dash 6-disc changer, satellite radio, and an auxiliary audio jack.

Consumers could also have the Hummer H2 for sale in 2009 in either of two advanced trims, the Adventure and the Luxury. In addition to the standard equipment, the off-road-focused Adventure package included a front brush guard, a self-leveling rear air suspension, a portable lamp, a portable toolkit, and a first aid kit.

The Luxury, geared for on-road drivers, included, in addition to the standard equipment package, 20-inch chrome wheels, chrome accents, third-row seating, a navigation system with a rearview camera and real-time traffic, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, and a premium Bose surround-sound audio system. Second-row captain's chairs were available as an option at all trim levels.

New for 2009, as a celebration of this final model year, GM offered the Black Chrome package, which they limited to a run of only 1,300. In this edition, GM replaced all of the Luxury's chrome with black chrome, and they included a hood louver, rocker moldings, and body color-matching wheel flares. Hummer also offered the Sedona Metallic body color exclusive to the Black Chrome package with a matching interior.

The 2009 Hummer H2 SUT seemed to be an afterthought for GM. It offered consumers very little that GM didn't include with the standard package of the traditional Hummer H2 for sale. It was also lacking in some aspects, such as decreased towing capacity and outward visibility, and seemed intentioned simply for the person who preferred the pickup-style stance.

QUESTION: If the Law is truly an Ass, does that mean Limousine Companies are Donkeys.

OUR OPINION: "UK Minibus Legislation is more than 10 Years Out of Date, the EC is still trying to fit a Round Peg into a Square Hole".

1. Any vehicle with more than 8 seats is classified as a Minibus since 1986. Thousands of Limousines have up to 16 seats, they are clearly not Minibuses.

2. A Minibus must have a COIF certificate to be legally allowed to carry fare-paying passengers. The UK Authorities responsible for this will not issue any COIF certificate for 99.999% of Limousines in the UK.

3. The vast majority of Minibuses in the UK now have to have a Tachograph fitted. We have been advised that they still have not designed a Tacho that will fit onto all Limousines, and when they are fitted they do not even have to be switched on for Private Use.

4. Minibus Legislation allocates 40cm per Person for room to sit. That's fine for sardines, but would you like to pay hundreds of pounds for a Limousine and then sit cross-legged and sweating away in a 40cm space.

5. Many Local Councils have informed their local Limousine Companies that they cannot collect passengers in adjacent areas, ie. in the next Borough – which is sometimes only a very short distance from their registered address. That is classified as Cross Border Hiring which is illegal !

6. In addition the adjacent Local Councils have also informed all Limousine Companies that they cannot register in or out of their area at all and also that they will not licence any Left-Hand Drive Vehicles for Private Hire Purposes anyway. All SuperStretch American Ford & Lincoln Limousines only exist in Left Hand Drive.

7. After all these years the Government is now considering introducing a Special Licence and Compliance Test for Limousines. As of 1st January 2008 this still has not been done.

8. Contract Hire is now being abolished on 28th January 2008. No nationwide system has been created to replace Contract Hire, ie. to allow Bona-Fide Limousine Companies to operate legally in the UK.

9. Thanks to all of the above the only Insurance Company catering for Private Hire for the 16-Seater Limousines has now pulled out of the market. So Bona-Fide Limousine Companies are now having to switch their insurance on to a brand-new scheme, in order to operate legally.

10. Enforcement Officers, when they ruin your Night-Out and make you abandon your Limousine half way through your journey in the middle of nowhere for example at 3am in the morning on your way back from a night-out, claim it's in the interest of Road Safety. All of these Limos have passed Stringent Annual Safety Tests and Monthly Roadworthy Checks in the USA and in the UK and continue to do so today.

Most Enforcement Officers, Council Staff, Hummer Limo Passengers, Limo Drivers, Limousine Companies etc are not aware of the whole of the above Info. But you the Reader are now fully aware, Knowledge is Power.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

So if you wish to book and ride legally in Super-Longbody Limousines and travel with 8 - 16 passengers on your Special Day Out, you have TWO OPTIONS.

OPTION 1: Is to book two separate 8-seater Limousines to carry your Guests and forget about the Big 16-Seater Super-Longbody Limousines.
