Fabian, Pat Boone, Frankie Avalon, and Dion and the Belmonts are just some of today's top performers to be featured in GM's new campaign for the Hummer H2.

"To showcase the Hummer's cutting-edge really-big engine technology, and explain how it fits into the lifestyle of the forward-thinking 50s American, we're playing off the popularity of some of today's hottest musical acts," said GM vice-president of marketing Jim Clenndennen.

"We want people to see that the Hummer H2 is the perfect vehicle, whether you're a teenager heading down to the soda shoppe, a father taking the family on one of those leisurely Sunday drives, or a mom shopping in the downtown business district," continued Clenndennen. "Just like today's music," he continued, "you can take the Hummer wherever you go."

Although the Hummer gets only around 10 miles to the gallon, compared to 25 in the original Model T, General Motors insists that it has not fallen behind on the technology curve. The new Hummer sports advanced tailfin designs, a dent-resistant bumper and 7-inch halogen head lamps. Nevertheless, with gas prices edging up towards 35 cents a gallon, consumers may not be as willing to sacrifice fuel economy.

Even so, senior designer Forrest McAuliffe remarked, "I think the Hummer demonstrates that GM is a long, long way from the days of the Model T. Sputnik's got nothing on this baby!"
