Hummer is an exciting brand of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) sold by General Motors. Hummers are some of the largest and least fuel efficient SUVs on the market, which are based on the military High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, or Humvee. Since Hummer vehicles have heavy-duty capabilities compared to many other SUVs, many owners for aid in disaster situations have employed them. Throughout the US, and international markets, there are many groups of Hummer brand enthusiasts who use the vehicles for off-highway and off-road driving and recreation. During the year, 2004 Hummer has gone international with selected importers and distributors in Europe and other markets. California Governor was the first private citizen to own a Hummer and continues to own several of them. During his 2003 bid for Governor, he responded to environmental critics that not only was the first civilian to own a Hummer, but he had at his own expense successfully converted at least one of his Hummers into a Hydrogen vehicle.
Hummers are available in different models such as: Hummer H1, Hummer H2, Hummer H3 and Hummer H4. The Hummer H1 is a civilian vehicle based on the M998 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, popularly known as the Humvee. The Hummer H2 is the second vehicle sold under the Hummer marque of General Motors. It is a large truck with room for six passengers - including driver. The rearmost part of the H2 was modified to a pickup truck bed for the 2005 H2 SUT. The Hummer H3 is the smallest of the three Hummer models, and though the H3 concept car was a pickup truck, the final vehicle is a conventional Sport Utility Vehicle. It is built on a heavily modified Colorado/Canyon pickup truck frame; the H3 shares many driveline and ancillary components with its siblings. The Hummer H4 is a new model, which is in development by the General Motors Hummer division. This model is likely to be more basic, and the focus is once again on off-road ability. It is smaller than the three previous Hummers and is reportedly conceived to compete with the Jeep Wrangler. The Hummer H3 vehicle is popularly used worldwide.
